This Apple page: titled "Install macOS 10.14 Mojave on Mac Pro (Mid 2010) and Mac Pro (Mid 2012)" list some options as far as which card will work. After reading the requirements of running the new OS, the Mohave update from the App Store does not show my machine listed in the hardware requirements.įrom what I am gathering from other web sites (including another apple page) I've visited, the issue appears to be the graphics card on my old machine. I started to research the possibility of running Mohave on this machine. I am currently running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6. Mac Pro Mid 2012 and Mohave I'm looking for help and advice on running Mohave on my Mac Pro 5,1. Just wondering how did I manage to get it working the first time around and if someone has found a work around to make this work as from what I understand, this is integrated graphics card so can't be replaced or upgraded etc. I have tried several different versions of Nvidia drivers but to no avail. I can only use the basic windows graphics driver otherwise the computer reboots during installation of Nvidia driver and reverts to windows basic display driver after attempting to reboot a couple of times. Once again I have been able to get everything working using the bootcamp drivers but this time around the Nvidia 9400 has refused to work. This works for us as the iMac is used by the wife and she only uses Windows. I only had to format it using the windows install format option as NTFS otherwise windows wouldn't install of course. When I was trying to install High Sierra from an external drive, it wasn't cooperating so just to see if it would work I inserted the USB stick with Windows 10 bootcamp installer and it installed without OSX and the need for bootcamp on the new SSD that had already been partitioned by OSX disk utility. Recently the now 10 year old hard disk started making rather a lot of noise and developed a bad sector so I decided to upgrade to an SSD. However I was also able to fix that using windows registry tweek by adding DWORD=1 somewhere for brightness control. I was able to find all the drivers from bootcamp download and the only issue I had was that display brightness control although would move up and down but wouldn't actually adjust the brightness. So a couple of years ago I first upgraded to High Sierra and then installed Windows 10 on this Core 2 duo iMac and everything went more or less smoothly.
